How to use the Curtain Fabric Calculator
Enter the total track width covered by the curtain set. Choose a fullness multiplier and use the usable fabric width after side hems and seam allowances. The tool rounds up to whole vertical fabric widths, then multiplies by the cutting length of each drop. It assumes plain fabric with no pattern matching and does not include lining.
Material sizes & reference dimensions
Use these as common planning references only. Actual product sizes, structural dimensions and effective coverage can vary by manufacturer, region, design and specification.
Cost guide
Multiply the result by your current supplier rate per linear m. Check packaging and include delivery, installation and accessories separately. The calculator does not include prices or assume a current market rate.
Calculated quantity × current unit rate + labour + transport + taxes + accessories + waste/contingency = preliminary project budget.
Practical accuracy tips
- For a pair, enter the total track width once.
- Subtract side hems and joining allowances from nominal fabric width.
- Pattern repeat, shrinkage, lining and split-panel layout may require extra fabric.
Frequently asked questions
Does it allow for patterned fabric?
No. Pattern matching can add a repeat allowance to every drop; have the cutting plan checked before buying.
Should I calculate each curtain separately?
For an overall estimate, use the combined track width. Check the split between panels in the final cutting plan.
