Introduction
A slab pour is difficult and expensive to reverse, so preparation matters more than speed. Confirm that the latest structural drawings are available on site and that the engineer has checked slab thickness, beam sizes, reinforcement diameter, spacing, laps, cover blocks and supports.
Plan with verified information
Coordinate all embedded services before the pour. Electrical conduits, fan boxes, plumbing sleeves, floor traps and future openings must match the coordinated drawings. Random cutting after concrete hardens can damage reinforcement and waterproofing. Photograph concealed services and reinforcement for the project record after approval.
Convert quantities into buying decisions
Confirm the concrete grade, planned quantity, access route, labour, vibration equipment, backup power, testing arrangement and curing materials. Concrete should be placed methodically without uncontrolled addition of water. Proper compaction is necessary, but excessive vibration can also cause segregation.
Keep a transparent project record
After finishing, protect the surface and begin the specified curing process at the correct time. Record delivery details, test samples, weather and any site instructions. This checklist helps the homeowner coordinate questions; the structural engineer and approved method statement remain the final authority.
